New Delhi: A new amended law is being brought by the Government of India. In this, only one document will be required for many tasks and services like admission in educational institutions, getting driving license, applying for Aadhar card or passport and registration of marriage. Now all these documents will be created using only the birth certificate. This new rule will come into effect from October 1.
Parliament had passed the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Act, 2023 in the last monsoon session.
According to a notification issued by Registrar General and Census Commissioner Mrityunjay Kumar Narayan, ‘in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 1 of the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Act, 2023 (20 of 2023),
To whom will this rule apply?
Provision is being made for the use of birth certificate as a single document to prove the date and place of birth of a person born on or after the date of commencement of the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Act, 2023.
