Mumbai Local Train: Mumbaikars may have to face big problems for the next one month. The speed of local trains, considered the lifeline of Mumbai, is going to be slowed down till 4th November. The block has been imposed from October 7 for the construction of the sixth line between Khar and Goregaon railway stations. Due to this work of Western Railway, from October 20, about 2700 sub-urban trains will be canceled and 400 trains will be partially canceled or disrupted. At least 60 cancellations and 200 partial cancellations of long distance trains are expected during the block period.
More than 2700 trains canceled
Western Railway said that this decision has been taken to complete the work of Railway Lines 5 and 6. About 30 lakh passengers will be affected by this. About 1394 local trains run on the Western Line every day. Mumbaikars will face the most difficulties between October 25 and November 4. During this entire work, 2700 trains will be cancelled, 1820 trains will run late and about 420 services will be terminated.
Most trains will be canceled on this day
According to sources, till October 19, 10 trains will run late and 2 trains will be short terminated on the Churchgate Virar Borivali route. From October 20, about 6 trains will be canceled every day. From October 25 to November 4, Western Railways will cancel 100 to 400 trains. According to sources, 400 trains will be canceled on 28th and 29th October. Meanwhile, a 24-hour mega block will also be kept at Bandra Terminus.
Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer, Western Railway, said, “Despite the huge amount of work involved, the block has been carefully planned to ensure minimum disruption to rail traffic and inconvenience to passengers.”
Railways is working on this plan
Western Railway said that the block plan has been made in such a way that no train is canceled in the first 10-13 days. Western Railway has expedited work on the 8.8 km sixth line project between Khan and Goregaon stations. It has been told that Platform 9 will remain closed from midnight of 19th and 20th October till the completion of non-interlocking work.
Western Railways said that this project will increase the line capacity of the Mumbai Suburban section and help in reducing congestion, improving punctuality and adding more train services. More than 30 lakh people travel on the Western Railway’s suburban network operating between Churchgate and Dahanu stations.
