The Indian cricket team is the only team in the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023 which hasn’t lost a single match till now. Yesterday India played its 6th match against the defending champions England at Ekana Sports City, Lucknow, and won it by 100 runs after which the Indian team reaches the top of the table with 12 points.
Though the Indian batters struggled against the English bowlers after they were put to bat first, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma played a mature and sensible knock of 87 runs and ensured that wicket doesn’t fall from one end as India lost 3 top order batters at quick intervals. While Shubman Gill got out at the score of 9, Virat Kohli was not able to open his account and got out for a duck. Shreyas Iyer got out after scoring 4 runs but KL Rahul supported Rohit Sharma pretty well and played a useful knock of 39 runs. The Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav played an important knock of 49 runs and India managed to put up a total of 229/9 in their stipulated 50 overs.

The England cricket team has a pretty strong batting lineup because of which many felt that England will bring a halt to their losing streak by defeating India but the Indian bowlers were literally on fire as they bundled out the England team at the score of 129 runs. While Joe Root and Mark Wood got out for golden duck, Ben Stokes was out for duck after playing 10 deliveries. The skipper Jos Buttler (10 runs) once again failed in playing a big innings and currently the England cricket team is at the bottom of the points table.
Mohammed Shami was superb in his bowling as he dismissed 4 batters and Jasprit Bumrah was equally good as he took 3 wickets.
The online users left no chance of having some fun after India won its 6th match and here are some selected reactions:
