The Indian cricket team has left everyone in shock after defeating Sri Lanka by 302 runs in the match which was played yesterday at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. With this win, India has become the first team to enter the semi-finals of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 and it is the only team which is still unbeatable after playing 7 matches.
The Indian cricketers proved themselves far better than their Sri Lankan counterparts in all the segments of the game as first the Indian team put up a big total of 357/8 and then they wrapped up the Sri Lankan team at the score of 55 runs.
The toss was won by Sri Lanka and they put India to bat first, though Rohit Sharma smashed a four on the very first ball of the innings yet on the second ball, he got clean bowled by Dilshan Madhushanka. It was a very big wicket for Sri Lanka and they celebrated it in a big manner but their happiness was short lived as Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli batted beautifully and produced a partnership of 189 runs for the second wicket.
While Shubman Gill (92 runs, 92 balls, 11 fours, 2 sixes) missed his century by just 8 runs, Virat Kohli was also unlucky as he got out at the score of 88 runs (94 balls, 11 fours) and failed to hit his 49th century after which he could have equaled the record of legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Shreyas Iyer capitalised on the situation and played a blistering knock of 82 runs for which he played only 56 balls and he smashed 3 fours and 6 maximums.
While KL Rahul scored 21 runs, Suryakumar Yadav got out for 12 and Ravindra Jadeja played a useful knock of 35 runs.
This match was certainly a nightmare for Sri Lanka as Indian pacers ripped their batting apart and got the whole team out for just 55 runs in 20 overs. While Mohammed Siraj left everyone awestruck by taking 3 wickets in 7 deliveries, it was Mohammed Shami who once again made a great impact by taking 5 wickets. Jasprit Bumrah got only one wicket but he also bowled superbly.

When you can call Shami, off the bench, after four matches; when Siraj can do this; when your spearhead is Bumrah, arguably India’s best ever new-ball ODI pacer; when you have Kuldeep + Jadeja; when you have Ashwin on the bench, you have India’s best CWC attack ever. #INDvsSL

Exceptional seam position and control by these Indian fast bowlers is a sight to behold! Their ability to consistently hit the perfect spot on the pitch is a game-changer. #BowlingExcellence #CWC2023 #INDvSL

Mohammed Shami was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his superb bowling and it won’t be wrong to say that this bowling attack of India is certainly the best at the moment in the cricket world, what do you say?
Congratulations team India!
