The Indian cricket fans were in for a delight as the Indian team registered its consecutive second win in the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023 yesterday. The match was played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi, and India defeated Afghanistan by 8 wickets.

While the skipper Rohit Sharma played a brilliant knock of 131 runs (84 balls, 16 fours & 5 sixes), the limelight was stolen by the lovely incident which involved Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and Afghani cricketer Naveen-ul-Haq.

Both the cricketers decided to bury the hatchet by bringing an end to their 6-month fight which took place during an IPL match that was played in Lucknow between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants. They smiled, hugged each other and patted each other’s back, thus putting an end to the rivalry which was fought on social media as well.

During the match, Virat Kohli also made a lovely gesture when he stopped his fans from trolling Naveen-ul-Haq by chanting “Kohli, Kohli” as he didn’t want them to overdo it.

Here is the video of the incident along with some photos of Virat and Naveen:

In response, India had a great start as Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan (47 runs, 47 balls, 5 fours & 2 sixes) produced a partnership of 156 runs for the first wicket. The Indian skipper (63 balls) was in superb form as he scored the fastest century by an Indian in the ODI World Cup and broke the record of Kapil Dev who smashed a hundred in the 1983 ODI World Cup for which he played 72 balls.

Rohit Sharma also surpassed Sachin Tendulkar in terms of having maximum centuries in the World Cup as it was Hitman’s seventh century in the World Cup, till now he was on an equal level with Sachin with six tons. While Sachin scored six centuries in six World Cups, Rohit Sharma surpassed him in just 3 World Cups.

Other than this, Rohit also surpassed Ricky Ponting by scoring his 31st century in regard to the batters who have scored maximum tons in ODI cricket. Now Rohit Sharma is just behind Virat Kohli (47 ODI centuries) and Sachin Tendulkar (49 centuries).

Well, it was a great match and what made it more special was the end of rivalry between Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq. What do you say?
