Weather Alert: AQI in Delhi-NCR Skyrockets! Stay Informed to Protect Your Health

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has released a concerning weather prediction for Delhi-NCR for the 25th of October 2023. This prediction indicates that the air quality in the Delhi-NCR region might deteriorate significantly. As per the report, the air quality was already poor on the 24th of October, and it is expected to worsen further on the 25th of October, possibly falling into the “severely polluted” category. The situation is expected to see some improvement on the 26th and 27th of October, but the air quality may still remain in the “poor” category. There is a likelihood that for the next three days, the air quality will continue to be in the “severely polluted” category.

Mountains Bathed in Blissful Weather

While the Delhi-NCR region grapples with hazardous air quality, the mountains are experiencing delightful weather. If you’re contemplating a trip to the hills, this is an ideal time to commence your journey. The monsoon has already bid adieu, and there are no signs of the Western Disturbance until the first week of November. This means that the weather will remain clear, and you can easily explore the mountains without the hassle of rain or snow. The weather department has issued a comprehensive 15-day weather update, which you should take note of.

Plan Your Excursion

According to the IMD, in the absence of the Western Disturbance, daytime weather in the mountains will be cool, comfortable, and sunny. Nights, on the other hand, will be chilly and perfect for stargazing. In the next two weeks, there is no prediction of rain or snowfall, making it an excellent time for those planning a mountain excursion. During this period, travelers can also breathe easy as there’s less chance of landslides in the mountains.

Wait for Snowfall

If you’re eager to experience snowfall in the higher altitudes, the IMD suggests waiting until the second week of November. During this time, there is a possibility of an active Western Disturbance, which could lead to rain and snowfall in various regions. You can plan your trip to the mountains in the second week of November if you wish to witness snowfall. December and January may also bring repeated Western Disturbances to Northern India, potentially causing rain in the lower regions and snowfall in the higher regions.

States Expecting Rain Today

According to the private weather website, Skymet Weather, light rain is likely in Bihar, Jharkhand, interior Odisha, Western Bengal, and coastal Andhra Pradesh. Mizoram and Tripura are also experiencing light to moderate rainfall. In the Western Himalayas, sporadic light rain is expected. Moreover, Manipur, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep are also anticipating light to moderate rainfall. There are chances of light to moderate showers in northern Odisha, Ganges West Bengal, and Kerala as well.

Health Concerns in Delhi-NCR

The Central Pollution Control Board has revealed the anticipated Air Quality Index (AQI) for Delhi-NCR for the next week. According to the report, the pollution levels were poor on the 24th of October. It is predicted that on the 25th of October, the air quality could reach the “severely polluted” category. However, there is some hope for improvement on the 26th and 27th of October, although it may still remain in the “poor” category. There is a risk of the air quality staying in the “severely polluted” category for the following three days.

In conclusion, it’s crucial to stay informed about the weather and air quality conditions, especially if you’re planning a trip to the mountains or residing in the Delhi-NCR region. While the mountains promise pleasant weather, Delhi-NCR faces potential air quality issues. Always prioritize safety and well-being when making travel plans or going about your daily activities.
